We're excited to announce that the 2013 O.C. Duathlon is the quaifier for the ITU Duathlon World Championship to be held in August in Ottawa, Canada. Qualification: The top six finishers in each age group, both male and female, (rolling to 20th place) will qualify for Team USA in their choice of race distance — standard or sprint. Six athletes per age group will be accepted for the standard-distance event and six athletes per age group will be accepted for the sprint-distance event. No matter what the role down will stop at 20 even if you do not fill the spots for the sprint and standard. And, just announced, the 2013 Orange County Duathlon has been awarded the SW USAT Regional Championships!!
Whether you are a diehard duathlete looking for a challenging race to finish off a busy race season, race against the best competition on the West Coast on this championship course and make Team USA, or an entry level triathlete who just doesn’t quite have his swim together, this is the race for you. With the new intermediate distance format, this 2k-37k-10k race will test your strength and endurance, but the beauty of the course and the spectacular finish down at the water’s edge at Lake Mission Viejo, will put a smile back on your face.
This year’s sports fest will have something for everyone, a whole community, and family event. There is a mini-aquathlon suitable for kids as well as the international distance triathlon and the Du. The spectacular venue at the lake, the pristine ride through Santiago Canyon, and the primarily off road run through the hills of Mission Viejo will bring the 8th Annual OC Duathlon to the next level, and it will soon become a major stop and a “must do” on the Duathlon circuit. Also, sign up for our Pacific Coast Duathlon, Sept. 8, 2013, a 1k, 20k, 5k runbikerun. A big success last year. Signup before Feb 1st and save $!! Race Limited to 300...don't be left out.
As always we'll have special discounted rooms at the Courtyard by Marriott in Foothill Ranch. Click on "hotels" to make your reservations.
