USA Triathlon California State Championships
The top 35% or top five (5) finishers in an age group (whichever is greater) will qualify. Racers may only qualify for Olympic-distance Nationals by placing in the Olympic distance State Championship race or Sprint Nationals by placing in the sprint distance State Championship race.
High School State Championships Exemption: All high school athletes who finish any of the State High School Championships will automatically qualify for Sprint-distance (pending they are at least age 15 as of December 31, 2023.) USAT will notify athletes of qualification.

The race is on April 30, 2023 with packet pick up available on April 28, 2023 at Sports Basement and packet pick up and expo on April 29, 2023 at Lake Mission Viejo.
The Olympic and Sprint Triathlon, Aquabike, 5K and Relay races start and finish at Lake Mission Viejo, 22555 Olympiad Rd, Mission Viejo, CA 92692.
The Duathlon starts at Transition 2 and finishes at Lake Mission Viejo, T2 is located caddy corner of the Saddleback Church Offices, 20532 El Toro Rd, Mission Viejo, CA 92692.
Wave starts are used to lessen the amount of participants in the water at the start.

Race packet will include your transition wristband, race number, bike number, helmet number, silicone swim cap and timing chip. You’ll also receive your souvenir shirt at packet pick up. Finisher Medals are given at the finish line.
The cut-off time for the swim is 8:30 am. All participants must be on the bike by 8:40 am.
Every athlete that makes the swim cut-off will be allowed to finish, the course may divert to sidewalks towards the end of the event.
The water temp should be around 65° Fahrenheit / 18° Celsius.
The Duathlon starts just outside of T2.
Yes, T1 will be open during the packet pick up and expo hours for setup. Security will be onsite overnight to watch your gear.

Total elevation gain for the Olympic bike is approximately 1738′.
Aid stations are at approximately mile 1.5, mile 3 and mile 4.5. Each aid station will have a restroom.
The Bike course will have one aid station at the top of Santiago Canyon.
