We’re thrilled to welcome you to the 2025 Orange County Multisport Festival on Sunday, April 27, 2025, at the stunning Lake Mission Viejo in Mission Viejo, CA. Whether you’re racing the Olympic, Sprint, Duathlon, Aquabike, or a youth event, you’re set for an inspiring day of competition and camaraderie. Get ready to swim in tranquil waters, bike through picturesque routes, and finish strong with cheering crowds. Let’s make this race a memorable adventure!

1. What to Bring

  • Photo ID & Confirmation Email.
  • Swim Gear: Wetsuit (optional, water typically wetsuit-legal), goggles, race-issued silicone swim cap.
    • XTERRA Wetsuits will be onsite offering great deals on wetsuits!
  • Bike Gear: Personal bike, helmet (mandatory), bike and helmet numbers (in race packet).
  • Run Gear: Running shoes, race bib (worn on front).
  • Nutrition/Hydration: Personal snacks/gels for bike/run (aid stations provide water). DryWater hydration available at all aid stations and expo.
  • Timing Chip: Provided at packet pickup; return post-race to avoid fees.
  • Optional: Sunscreen, towel, post-race clothing.

2. When to Arrive

Saturday, April 26, 2025:

  • Mandatory Packet Pickup: 12:00 PM–4:00 PM at Lake Mission Viejo, 22555 Olympiad Rd, Mission Viejo, CA 92692 (unless Race Day Pickup or VIP add-on purchased).
  • Mandatory T2 Gear Drop-Off: 12:00 PM–4:30 PM at northeast corner of El Toro and Marguerite (for Olympic Triathlon/Duathlon; unless Race Day Pickup or VIP add-on purchased).
  • Optional Bike Drop-Off: Transition 1 (T1) at Lake Mission Viejo (security provided overnight).

Sunday, April 27, 2025 (Race Day):

  • 5:00 AM: T1 opens for bike setup. Arrive by 5:30 AM for setup and to avoid rush.
  • 5:30 AM: Race Day Packet Pickup opens (for VIP or add-on holders only).
  • Race Start Times:
    • 6:30 AM: 5K Run/Walk.
    • 7:00 AM–7:09 AM: Olympic events (Triathlon, Duathlon, Aquabike, Swim Only).
    • 7:30 AM–7:36 AM: Sprint events (Triathlon, Aquabike).
    • 8:30 AM: Mini Sprint.
    • 10:15 AM: Kids Triathlon.
  • Arrive 60–90 minutes before your wave (see wave assignments below).

3. What to Expect

Packet Pickup:

Collect race packet at Lake Mission Viejo (Saturday, 12–4 PM, mandatory unless VIP/Race Day Pickup purchased). Packet includes:

  • Bib Number: Worn on run (attach with safety pins or race belt).
  • Bike Number: Placed on top tube of bike.
  • Helmet Number: Sticker for front of helmet.
  • Timing Chip: Worn on left ankle, return at finish line.
  • Sprint Bike Chip: Special chip for Sprint athletes to count bike laps (see Bike Tag Instructions).
  • Premium shirt and silicone swim cap.
  • Visit the race store for souvenir sweatshirts, hats, and more.

Transition Setup (Olympic Athletes Have 2 Transition Areas):

  • We encourage setup of both transitions on Saturday. Overnight security is provided at both Transition Areas.
  • T1 (Lake Mission Viejo, 22555 Olympiad Rd): Swim-to-bike for all athletes except Duathlon, pre-assigned spaces. Sprint athletes return to T1 after bike for bike-to-run transition.
  • T2 (northeast corner of El Toro and Marguerite): Bike-to-run for Olympic Triathlon/Duathlon only. T2 gear drop-off mandatory on Saturday for Olympic athletes (unless VIP/Race Day Pickup add-on).
  • T2 Parking: Mission Hills Lot, southwest corner of El Toro and Marguerite, 20532 El Toro Rd, Mission Viejo, CA 92692.
  • DO NOT PARK ON EL TORO ROAD!

Race Day:

  • Swim: 1500m (Olympic), 750m (Sprint), or 300m (Mini Sprint) in Lake Mission Viejo. Keep buoys on right, lifeguard support.
  • Bike:
    • Olympic Distance: 40K; athletes bike up Marguerite to El Toro, then up into Santiago Canyon, ending at T2 (northeast corner of El Toro and Marguerite). One aid station at top.
    • Sprint Distance: 20K; athletes bike up Marguerite, turn left on Mustang Run, left on Los Alisos, U-turn at Entidad, repeating the loop 4 times, returning to T1 at Lake Mission Viejo. Sprint bike chip tracks laps.
    • Helmet mandatory, no drafting.
    • Mini Sprint follows Sprint Course, One Lap.
  • Run: 10K (Olympic, from T2) or 5K (Sprint, from T1) or 2.5K (Mini Sprint, from T1) on trails/roads. Aid stations ~every 1.5 miles.
  • Restrooms: Available at each aid station, in transition areas (T1 and T2), and at the finish line.
  • Cut-Off: Olympic Distance Triathletes must complete the swim by 8:30 AM. At 11 AM, participants will be asked to use the sidewalk as the roads will be reopened.

Rules: Follow USA Triathlon regulations (e.g., helmet on before unracking bike, no headphones).

Spectators: Welcome at North Beach (swim) and finish line (Lake Mission Viejo).

Details: Post-race celebration with music and food.

  • Each athlete receives a meal wristband.
  • Open to friends and family.

Awards: Finisher medals at the finish line. Top finisher awards.

7. Parking

  • Parking at the Lake is $10.00 for the Upper Lot (No Exit Before 10am)
  • Pre Paid Premier Parking is in the back of the lower lot.
  • VIP Parking is in the front of the lower lot
  • Pre Paid and VIP Parking participant’s will have their name on a list at the gate. Be prepared to Show ID!
